The Origin Of The Abbreviation “rx”?

I know Rx means prescription, but where did it originate from?
At school, we were taught that it was derived from the Wadjet, but I read a few other things online. One website said that it came from the Latin word recipe, and another said that it came from the astrological sign for Jupiter.
Out of curiosity, which of these theories has the most evidence backing it? Are there any other possibilities?
Thanks.

What Does The Abbreviation B.c. Mean? As Opposed To A.d.?

No, I am not looking for the answer ‘Before Christ’. I’m looking for the latin words. It is now 2008 A.D., meaning Anno Domini, or ‘In the Year of our Lord’. I’m sure there is an equivalent for B.C., but I don’t know what it is.

Why Is ‘abbreviation’ Such A Long Word?

We all know the meaning for abbreviation…
“a shortened or contracted form of a word or phrase, used to represent the whole.”
Then why the word abbreviation itself is too long?
This is the answer! Abbreviation, in itself, is not an abbreviation! (abbr. is the abbreviation for abbreviation I think!) , so obviously it is not going to be small, and concise, but more of a broad word. Obviously, many words in the English language derive from Latin words, or are similar to Latin words: thus, the long word “abbreviation” starts from the short word ‘brevis’ meaning ‘brief’.
Well! Any funny answers?
