Okay, so tomorrow I’m going to be taking a placement exam in languages for my upcoming High School. I’ve been taking Spanish for 7th & 8th grade.I got a 97 on my Proficiency Exam. My high school isn’t like others. It’s an Early College, and you do 2 years of High School in one. So 9th and 10th grade in the first year. This means that I will be taking my Regents my first year of High School (Goodie -__-) I want to be a doctor btw. Or at least I think so. My decision might change,
So here’s what I think so far:
Spanish:
- Easy Grade, which is good, because I will be getting tons of hard work.
- A LOT of people speak spanish now’a'days.
Bad: If we take Spanish, we have to sign a contract saying we will ONLY speak spanish in the class. (Will that help me learn how to speak and write it?)
Latin:
-EXTREMELY tough.
-It’s a dead language.
-It helps on the SATS?
-Helps if you want to be a doctor. (Though, I don’t know yet)
-Helps with your vocabulary as well.
So, I would like to know, what are YOUR opinions?
Thanks

Am learning beginner’s Spanish of Latin American. We learned today that vostos is not used the formal ustedes is always used. But so does that mean that tu is not used as well? Does that mean tu is basically redundant and unnecassary in Latin America?? Like would you even call mother or father usted instead of tu???

Is Spanish derived From Latin language used by the Romans?
Spain used to be occupied by the Romans. The Romans spoke Latin. Spanish is derived from Latin. That is why Spanish and Italians have similar languages.
What do you think??
